Bideford – New Year Fireworks 2015
DMR Pyro subcontracted under SB Pyrotechnics to crew the main 2015/16 Bideford New Year’s Eve fireworks display fired from Brunswick Wharf. We spent the day preparing the professional category 4 fireworks ready for the big show at midnight.
The real challenge was keeping everything dry and secure whilst mother nature threw her worst at us! We were battered with wind and rain from 10.00 until 21.30 where a break in the weather gave us the chance to lay out all the firework tubes and barrage cakes.
The show consisted of over 50 professional cakes and candles as well as more than 250 aerial shells. A real sky filling show with raw power and a little over 8 minute duration. The show was hand fired and controlled by chief pyro Steve Barnes. DMR Pyro look forward to working with SB Pyrotechnics in 2016 and into the future.
Neither SB Pyrotechnics nor DMR Pyro had any association with the pyrotechnics fired from Bideford Quay.
Fireworks Display
Braunton Village – 7th November 2015
Seb Ash, on behalf of Parents and Friends Association of Kingsacre Primary School approached DMR Pyro to provide a professional fireworks display at Braunton Cricket Club to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night 2015.
The event was being held to help raise funds for rubber mulch matting to equip the school’s outdoor playground, making it accessible in all weathers.
The original forecast for the event was approximately 500 visitors, however when tickets went on sale it was quickly recognised this would not be nearly enough! The show was a total sellout with 1500 visitors inside the event enjoying Sparkler Zone, bouncy castles and all the fun of a Guy Fawkes Party. Braunton Rotary Club and Braunton Army Cadets helped to marshal to the event and everyone had a safe, fun show.
DMR Pyro expect this show to be a firm fixture on the calendar for next year – a great event for a local community cause.

The Big Sheep Fireworks – Guy Fawkes 2015
DMR Pyro was commissioned by Rick Turner to supply The Big Sheep fireworks displays for 2015. Not just one, but two professional firework displays to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night on the 5th November 2015.
Historically this show has gotten bigger and bigger audiences each year, and this year was no exception. Crowds braved the wind and rain and were rewarded with two fantastic firework displays with the biggest firework effects The Big Sheep had ever seen!
2015 was the first year The Big Sheep fireworks night had employed a professional company to deliver its Guy Fawkes Night celebration fireworks. DMR delivered category 4 professional fireworks display that filled the sky with colour and sound.
The Big Sheep Fireworks Display
The first display was designed with the younger audience in mind. “Some smaller effects and a focus on vibrant colour” was Dave Macbeth’s key goal with the Tiny Tot’s Treason Plot. The show was fired electronically and accompanied with a musical sound-track.
The DMR crew of pyrotechnicians then set to preparing the main Big Sheep fireworks display whilst The Big Sheep got the giant bonfire underway. The sheer size of the bonfire caused some issues with setting out the main display, but nevertheless it was completed.
The main display included for the first time Aerial Mortar shells, large calibre fireworks, so large they needed to be fired from The Ultimate Adventure Centre, some 150m away!

Fireworks Display
Fireworks at The Big Sheep for Guy Fawkes Night 2014
Well, well well… What a show! Dave and Roy from DMR Pyro, along with some help from Paul and Phill from ECombat certianly put on two shows to remember tonight! With over 100 different fireworks this was the biggest Fireworks Stash the Big Sheep has ever seen! Add to that the adventure that was radio remote electrical firing it gave the whole show a much more professional outlook and appearance than fireworks at The Big Sheep have ever had before!
Not one, but two displays on the same night!
The Big Sheep is a family entertainment park on the outskirts of Bideford. They have activities for everyone from 6 months to 60 years old whether you want to see the lambs or run riot at the outdoor combat games run by Battlefield Devon there is something for everyone. As a consequence DMR Pyro were requested to design two very different fireworks shows. The first was the “Tiny Tots Treason Plot”. An all together family friendly display aimed at the younger visitor with less loud bangs and no screaming rockets Dave put together a colourful display which had a number of different effects from small cakes, roman candles and to finish, a fantastic silver waterfall.
After the Tiny Tots came the real Gunpowder Plot – cakes came thick and fast with tubes up to 30mm. The loudest bangs, the biggest whizzes and the show kept building all the way to the end – or so they thought. Just when the show seemed to have peaked DMR Pyro launched a volley of rockets followed by 3 incredible Ultimate Firework Cakes over which a flight of 6 golden willow rockets thundered into the night.
The Bonfire
In addition to the two firework displays The Big Sheep constructed a massive bonfire atop which local school children fitted their crafted Guy Fawkes effigies. Once alight the bonfire provided incredible flames that danced in the moonlight and a tremendous amount of heat that warmed the near 5000 people that had turned out on that beautiful evening.
We at DMR Pyro can’t wait for 2015’s display at The Big Sheep – hold onto your hats, this is going to be BIG!
